Care Home Closure Information for UK - Jul 2009 - Present

During the economic recession between 2008 and 2009, a large number of Local Authority managed care homes announced that they planned to close. The cumulative impact of these proposed closures on the numbers of care homes operating in the UK has been quite signifcant, and is estimated to be around 1% of all care homes (approximately 2,400).

As a result, Comparecarehomes.com has embarked on a project to document the closure of care homes during this period, and to publish this information within the table below.

Our staff endeavour to keep this list as up to date as possible. However, if you are aware of a care home closure, or proposed closures that are not already included in the table, we would be grateful if you could let us know so that we may update our records.

The information is displayed by county. Please select from the drop down lists below.
