A care home co-ordinator has been crowned Team Leader of the Year for Hertfordshire after a surprise and “nerve-wracking” interview.
Emma Franklin, living co-ordinator at Sunrise Care Home, in Edgwarebury Lane, Elstree, picked up the title in the Hertfordshire Care Awards earlier this week.
Mrs Franklin was interviewed by a panel of four judges from Hertfordshire Care Providers, who arrived unannounced in October this year.
Speaking after her award, Mrs Franklin said: “I was delighted to win, as the other two finalists had more experience than I did and I was really happy to even make the final.
“The interview process was quite intense. It included a 45-minute interview in front of a panel as well as a filmed interview, which was nerve-wracking.
“I was really proud to win the award. I had to thank my team and wanted to share my award with them, as I could not have won it without their support.”
She was nominated by the care home’s general manager, Regina Heneghan, for her hard work and the support she gives the residents living in the home.
The competition, which took place in Knebworth, was sponsored by the National Skills Academy.
Kate Simcock, Operations Director for Sunrise Senior Living said:“This is a fantastic achievement. We’re so proud of Emma for winning this amazing Award.
“It pays testament to her dedication and skills as a team leader, and those of her brilliant team.”
