A care home in Bescot, Walsall, West Midlands is to receive a £200,000 modernisation and extension, following the granting of planning permission by the local authority.

Cedar Falls Care Home at 83-89 Bescot Road, Walsall (WS2 9DG) has received planning approval for an additional 14 en-suite bedrooms, as part of a programme of modernisation.

The care home, which was previously used as a 40-bedroom hotel which had become vacant, will be extended from 22 bedrooms to 36 bedrooms.   The number of staff employed by the premises is expected to increase from 11 to 16.

A council spokesman from the planning department said: “The proposed development increases security at the rear of the site to the benefit of adjacent occupiers and future occupiers of the home.”

The care home regulator, the Care Quality Commission states on their website that the home is registered to provide residential care for over-65s.  The home is registered to provide care to people with dementia, mental health conditions and people with disabilities.    The care home does not provide nursing care for residents with nursing needs.
Mrs. Tania Yvonne Mason is the registered manager for these services at this location.
