The Dignity in Care Campaign run by the Department of Health and 'A Dignified Revolution', who are a small group of ex-nurses in Wales are two organisations that have been set up to encourage the delivery of care that respects the dignity of all vulnerable adults.  The Department of Health's Dignity in Care Campaign has self elected Dignity Champions in many care homes. A Dignity Champion is someone who believes passionately that being treated with dignity is a basic human right, not an optional extra. They believe that care services must be compassionate, person centred, as well as efficient, and are willing to try and do something to achieve this. A Dignity Champion is willing to stand up and challenge disrespectful behaviour rather than just tolerate it.
