Who we are

Compare Care Homes ("we", "us") operates comparecarehomes.com and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@comparecarehomes.com.

What we collect

When you submit an enquiry, careers or recruitment form we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, phone number, and — for care enquiries — who the care is for, the type of care needed, the timeframe, and anything you add in your message. We also automatically receive limited technical data (such as your IP address) as part of operating and protecting the site.

Health-related information. A care enquiry can reveal information about a person's health — for example that someone needs dementia or mental health care. This is special category data under UK GDPR. We only process it because you volunteer it in your enquiry, we use it solely to respond and to connect you with a suitable care home, and we ask you not to include more medical detail than is needed for a first enquiry.

Why we can use it (lawful basis)

We process enquiry data because it is necessary for the steps you ask us to take — responding to your enquiry and introducing you to care homes (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b), and our legitimate interest in operating the directory, Article 6(1)(f)). For health-related details you volunteer, we rely on your explicit consent given when you submit the form (Article 9(2)(a)); you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.

How we use and share it

We use your enquiry only to respond and, where relevant, to connect you with the care home or provider you are enquiring about, who may then contact you directly. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

We use a small number of service providers to run the site, who process data on our instructions:

• Vercel — website hosting (technical request data, e.g. IP addresses, appears in server logs).
• Resend — delivers enquiry emails to us.
• Upstash — secure storage of submitted enquiries.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, so we can handle follow-up questions, and then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.

Cookies and analytics

We use only essential cookies needed for the site to function. We do not use advertising cookies. Our visitor analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) is cookieless and does not identify individual visitors. Fonts and images are served from our own domain — no font or content requests are sent to third parties when you browse the site.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict the personal data we hold about you, object to our processing, and withdraw any consent you have given. Email hello@comparecarehomes.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
